Senior Policy Advisor | Infrastructure and Environment

About the role

MBIE’s goal is to create a resilient and high‑performing economy that delivers real and ongoing quality of life for all New Zealanders. As a Senior Policy Advisor you will help shape the new Resource Management system – the Natural Environment Act and the Planning Act – and support its implementation across MBIE and with other government agencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead MBIE’s input into the resource management reform process.
• Advise on how the new system intersects with MBIE’s portfolios.
• Support MBIE’s engagement with other agencies and stakeholders.
• Provide policy and strategic advice on climate change policy, the Fast Track Approvals Act and to MBIE’s Senior Leadership Team and Ministers.

Qualifications

Team

The Infrastructure and Environment Team applies an economic lens to infrastructure and environmental policy. We work across MBIE and with other agencies to provide coordinated, strategic advice. The team sits within the Communications, Infrastructure and Trade Branch and is part of the wider Building, Resources and Markets Group.

Benefits

Permanent Wellington‑based position. Salary range : $110 098 – $138 028 plus KiwiSaver and wellness benefits.
