  • About the Company

    Our client is a leading global chemical manufacturing company , recognized for its innovation, industry leadership, and commitment to sustainability and safety. We are currently sourcing an experienced Site Leader for a Fixed Term contract, to oversee their MHF facility in Tauranga. This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing all site functions, including Production, Safety, Engineering, HR, and Finance, to ensure the site operates safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory standards.

    About the Role

    As the Site Leader , you will have full accountability for the management and strategic direction of the facility, ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. You will drive performance improvements, foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, and manage the site’s operational and financial performance. Additionally, you will serve as the senior authority on-site, representing the facility to internal and external stakeholders. This is a full time position for a Fixed Term period of 18 months, and you will be responsible for 13 direct reports, including Operators, Engineering, Maintenance and Administration staff.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead day to day operations, ensuring compliance with OHS, EPA, MHF, and other regulatory standards within the chemical manufacturing industry.
    • Oversee and optimize manufacturing processes to produce high quality chemical products on time and within budget.
    • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency, cost savings, and sustainability.
    • Develop and implement the site’s strategic plan, including the five year master plan and annual CAPEX program.
    • Ensure a robust safety culture, maintaining compliance with safety management systems, process safety, and mechanical / electrical integrity.
    • Manage financial performance, inventory accuracy, and operating budgets to achieve targets for working capital and profitability.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing team, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and performance excellence.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all regulatory, compliance, and emergency matters, liaising with authorities and the local community.
    • About You

      You are an experienced and results driven leader with a strong background in a chemical manufacturing environment. With a proven ability to manage complex operations, you bring a hands on approach to leadership, focusing on both short term performance and long term sustainability. You are passionate about safety, innovation, and continuous improvement and have the capability to lead diverse teams in a manufacturing / production environment.

      Key Requirements

    • A degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Business, or a related scientific field is highly desirable.
    • Extensive experience in a leadership role within a similar manufacturing environment.
    • In-depth knowledge of safety leadership, emergency preparedness, and compliance with OHS, EPA, and Process Safety regulations.
    • Proven expertise in Continuous Improvement methodologies and driving operational efficiencies.
    • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, expense control, and inventory management.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
    • Familiarity with industrial automation systems is advantageous.
