Are you ready for your next step in journalism? We're on the lookout for a talented and curious journalist to join the Waikato Times – someone who wants to make an impact and grow their career in a well-respected media organisation.

Based in Hamilton, you'll be responsible for generating compelling, accurate, and well-crafted stories for our website and the Waikato Times newspaper. We are particularly interested in applicants with relevant court and or local body reporting experience, but reporters brimming with ideas and curiosity should also apply.

Responsibilities

• Producing high-quality stories and multimedia content to a consistently high standard
• Reporting on major local issues, regularly breaking news and leading the conversation
• Identifying and developing original ideas that inform, entertain and shape the local and national news agenda
• Understanding the interests of Waikato communities and unearthing the stories that matter most
• Making effective use of emerging tools, including AI, to support research, content creation and audience engagement
