Head Shepherd / 2IC

Lone Star Farms is seeking a motivated Head Shepherd / 2IC to join the team at Barewood Station, a 5,500ha (effective) breeding operation located next to the Taieri Gorge, in‑land Dunedin. This high‑performing farm winters around 25,000 stock units and includes 200 Angus cows, 15,500 Headwater ewes and 4,500 Hoggets. Plus a trading operation of 500 R1‑R2 cattle.

We are seeking a person who has :

• 3+ years working as an Experienced Shepherd in New Zealand
• A team of 4‑6 competent working dogs
• Experience with feed planning, grazing systems and rotations
• Ability to communicate with and manage staff is a must
• Competent with computer use including EID tech
• A willingness to embrace technology
• Strong record of high stock performance and animal welfare
• High‑level stockmanship and attention to detail
