Job descriptionYou will use data to break stories which move markets and are of national significance. This role involves sourcing and collating large datasets to help tell stories, including using raw financial data such as annual reports, government budgets or other datasets such as property records or electoral role data. The core of this role involves either the existing ability or the ability to quickly learn to read and become confident with basic financial analysis of companies’ earnings reports, strategic updates, and major announcements. You will also become familiar with economic data and government budget appropriations. Ability to take guidance and instruction / have stories assigned to you Ability to work well independently, and work with other newsroom staff on team projects. Report and write stories and features with a data focus using tools such as Datawrapper and Flourish Develop the skills to acquire, analyse and present data. Learn programming and use systems such as R and JavaScript. Develop data interactives and visualisations.
