Experienced Mortuary Technician - Lead Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mortuary Technician Lead to join our team. This is a leadership position that requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to the highest standards of care and respect for the tūpāpaku / deceased and their whānau.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate all mortuary operations, ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and health & safety standards.

Lead and mentor a team of mortuary technicians, fostering a culture of professionalism and compassion.

Prepare and present deceased individuals for viewing with dignity and respect.

Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.

Liaise with pathologists, police, funeral directors and other professionals to ensure smooth processes.

About You

Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a mortuary technician, with proven leadership capabilities.

Strong knowledge of mortuary practices, infection control, and health & safety protocols.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support grieving families sensitively.

High level of integrity, discretion, and respect for cultural practices and diversity.

Relevant qualifications in mortuary science or equivalent experience.
