Digital User Experience Specialist

Christchurch City Council is looking for a Digital User Experience Specialist to lead user-centred design initiatives that elevate how our citizens engage with digital services.

• Facilitate engaging discovery workshops and co-design sessions
• Champion accessibility and inclusive design across all digital platforms
• Lead usability testing and accessibility audits
• Apply design thinking to solve complex problems and prototype innovative solutions
• Drive adoption of our design system and contribute to our evolving digital strategy
• Collaborate across teams and mentor others to embed UX excellence
• Advocate for biculturalism and inclusive service delivery
• 8+ years’ experience in UX or digital design
• Strong facilitation and communication skills
• Deep knowledge of NZ Government Web Standards, WCAG, ARIA, and inclusive design
• Proficiency in tools like Figma and working in agile environments
• Experience developing customer journeys, interactive prototypes, and running usability testing
• A degree in UX, Design, IT or equivalent experience
