Job description

Manawatū Community Hub Libraries are in an exciting place. With a brand-new facility at Te Āhuru Mōwai in Feilding and a fresh team structure, we're already delivering a thriving service that's making a real impact in our community. Now we're looking for an energetic, people-focused leader to take us to the next level in this full time role as our Community Hub Libraries Manager.

As Community Hub Libraries Manager, you'll lead and empower three specialist leaders : Content, Digital, and Experience, while holding overall responsibility for the success of the entire facility. You'll also work closely with the Community Programmes Manager to ensure all services delivered from Te Āhuru Mōwai are well-connected, people-focused, and making the most of the hub's potential. You'll also oversee our network of Community Libraries across the district, ensuring they're well-supported and integrated as part of our connected library service.

This role is about supporting people to succeed, building on what's already thriving, and making sure our community sees the hub as a place to connect, learn, and belong.

What you’ll do

  • Inspire, lead and support specialist leaders to collaboratively deliver excellent services across content, digital, and customer experience.
  • Take responsibility for the whole facility, ensuring smooth, integrated services across Te Āhuru Mōwai.
  • Build confidence, strong team culture, and a sense of shared purpose.
  • Encourage continuous improvement and innovation while keeping services people-first.
  • Strengthen partnerships with iwi, schools, community groups, and sector partners.
  • Manage planning, budgets, and reporting in a way that keeps things moving forward with no surprises.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary, customer-facing teams.
  • A positive, energetic leadership style that motivates and empowers others.
  • Strength in operational planning, systems, and budgets.
  • Great communication skills and cultural awareness.
  • The ability to balance big picture planning with operational delivery and being present, visible, and approachable.
  • At Manawatū District Council, our vision is a connected, vibrant and thriving Manawatū. Our Community Hub Libraries are at the heart of that - modern, welcoming spaces where people come to connect, create, and discover.

The salary range midpoint is $102,900. Salary will be determined by the experience you bring. We also offer a range of staff benefits, including 5 weeks' annual leave for all employees.

This is your opportunity to bring your energy, leadership, and vision to a service that's already thriving and help it to keep building momentum.

Start date for this role on or after 13th January 2026.

Be careful - Don’t provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs. Don't transfer any money or complete suspicious online surveys. If you see something suspicious, report this job ad.
