Senior Consultant / Manager – Tax Policy and Controversy

Join EY’s Tax Policy and Controversy team in New Zealand and resolve complex tax disputes, influence tax policy, and advise diverse clients such as large corporates, entrepreneurs, and high‑net‑worth individuals.

Location : Auckland (preferred); Wellington or Christchurch are also considered for the right applicant.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on complex tax issues, including controversy management, technical interpretations, private binding ruling requests.
• Design and implement tax governance frameworks and control testing programs.
• Prepare high‑quality technical documentation such as dispute resolution submissions, technical advice papers, voluntary disclosures, penalty remission requests, and private binding ruling applications.
• Monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory developments, providing proactive insights on tax policy changes and commercial implications.
• Collaborate with clients, regulators, and internal teams to deliver strategic solutions balancing compliance, risk management, and business objectives.
