As an Early Intervention Teacher, you will play a critical role in our region's Learning Support team by :
Providing high quality learning support in line with the Ministry's practice framework He Pikorua guiding principles, strands, and goals of Te Whariki : Early Childhood Curriculum, and Te Whariki a te Kohanga Reo.
Building and strengthening the capability of those who are best placed to support children's learning such as parents, teachers and whanau | families.
Understanding the families' needs, collaboratively planning, supporting, and monitoring the implementation of intervention plans.
Supporting transition points in the child's learning pathway, such as transition into early childhood education and to school as required.
Working as part of a trans-disciplinary team where a child's needs are complex.
Qualifications
A Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood), and be a fully registered teacher.
A post-graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching : Early Intervention or the ability to attain this within four years of beginning in the position.
A few years of teaching experience and a deep knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour.
An understanding of a range of needs and disabilities and their implications for daily functioning in family life and for teaching and learning in the context of early childhood and family homes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with akonga | learners, whanau | families and kaiako | teachers across a diverse range of settings.
The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga.
A full driver's licence.
To be a New Zealand citizen, resident or holder of a valid working visa.
Flexibility around start dates; successful applicants must be available to commence employment in January
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Job Type : Permanent (fixed-term ending June
Location : Christchurch, NZ
Salary range : $69,966 - $106,016 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver.
The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.
