Account Manager – Grower Sales

Waimea Nurseries Limited – Appleby, South Island

We’re looking for an organised, relationship-focused Account Manager to join our team and manage sales to fruit growers across New Zealand. You’ll work with a solid base of long-term customers while developing new opportunities in a growing horticultural business.

Waimea Nurseries produces fruit trees and berry plants for orchardists, along with a wide range of plants for retailers. We’re proud to be one of New Zealand’s largest and most respected nurseries. As part of the Waimea Group, we have related businesses in new variety development, tissue culture and a specialist propagation nursery.

About the role

You’ll be responsible for managing and growing client relationships, overseeing sales contracts and agreements, and ensuring every order runs smoothly from initial conversation to delivery. This is a role for someone who enjoys both people and process, building trust with customers while maintaining a keen eye for detail behind the scenes.

Most of our commercial customers are apple growers, with a focus on growing business in berries, summerfruit and kiwifruit plant supply. You’ll spend time both in the field meeting with growers and at your desk, with domestic travel required.

Reporting to the GM of Grower Sales & Variety Management, you will also be a key part of the team involved with the pipeline of trials and commercialization of new varieties and rootstocks.

What you’ll bring

• Strong relationship and account management skills
• Solid understanding of horticulture or agriculture (ideally in fruit production)
• Proven organisational and administrative ability, with attention to detail in sales documentation
• Motivation, initiative, and a commitment to delivering great customer service
• Sales experience is essential, with your ability to connect with growers and manage details accurately is what will set you apart.
• While Nelson-based is preferred, we’re open to the right candidate being based in Hawke’s Bay.
