About the Role
As a Senior Health Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in shaping health service performance and strategy through the extraction, collation and distribution of data, insights, and information, using both national data sets and a rich regional Data Warehouse.You will be able to lead advanced data analysis, modelling, and visualisation to inform decision-making across Hospital & Specialist Services, Commissioning, and other directorates. Your work will also support responses to parliamentary questions, OIA requests, and media inquiries, whilst contributing to continuous improvement and equity-focused initiatives.This is a unique opportunity to influence national health outcomes through evidence-based insights and collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.Through data analysis, we inform evidence-based decision-making, identify areas for improvement, enhance overall efficiency in the health system and provide accountability reporting to the public.
About you
With a background in data and analytics, you will have been responsible for delivering high quality, evidence-based, forward-focused insights using best practice approaches and methods. You will be committed to developing your analytical skills, and working within a broader team to produce, present and interpret data sets that support decision-makers. You will actively support and mentor other team members, sharing your knowledge to help build capability across the team.You will have :
Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Health Informatics) or 7–10 years' experience in intelligence analyst roles within large organisations
Knowledge of New Zealand hospital datasets
Advanced skills in PowerBI, SSRS, SQL, and / or SnowSQL
Proven skills and knowledge in data manipulation / exploration, visualisation, and insight analysis
Good understanding of data management, data warehouse or cloud data platforms
Leadership experience and coaching skills including strong collaboration and relationship building
Strong communication skills with an ability to interpret technical requirements
Ability to produce and design best Business Intelligence solution for customers.
An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in healthPreferred experience also includes :
Experience in low-code or no-code BI tools or PBI service administration
