Senior Advisor - Alcohol and Other Drugs - Health Promotion - NPHS

About the Role
We have a full time, permanent opportunity for a Senior Advisor (Alcohol and Other Drugs) to join the Health Promotion Directorate within NPHS. The Alcohol and Other Drug team leads key projects to prevent drug harm in New Zealand, particularly with youth populations, as well as manage key contracts with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) such as Alcohol Healthwatch and the New Zealand Drug Foundation.
The Senior Advisor is an intermediate level role, with developed health promotion subject matter expertise, community and stakeholder relationships, cultural capability, digital, written and oral communication skills, and a sound understanding of health inequalities and communities of need. You will lead the implementation and achievement of projects by planning, implementing and co-ordinating activities from national and / or regional health promotion plans..

The NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About you
You are someone who has an ability to select, adapt and use a range of health frameworks, principles, tools and methods to apply them appropriately to given issues. You have experience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice.
