Pattle Delamore Partners Limited seeks a Hydrologist / Groundwater Scientist / Flood Modeller with Python expertise to develop innovative environmental solutions across New Zealand.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing :
- Create, build, and maintain innovative Python scripts and modules for hydrology, groundwater, and flood modelling applications.
- Develop Python-based spatial analysis tools and work with GIS software (ArcGIS / QGIS).
- Undertake data analysis and assessments related to surface water, groundwater, ecology, and other water resource projects.
- Assist with hydraulic / flood modelling and groundwater studies for river systems and catchments.
- Conduct hydrological investigations including baseline studies and assessments for hydro-electric generation, irrigation, and public water supplies.
- Assist with development and deployment of telemetered data collection solutions.
- Develop and maintain environmental databases and Python-based applications and tools.
- Write technical reports and contribute to proposals.
- Conduct fieldwork including surface water and groundwater monitoring; business travel may be required.
About You
The company is looking for :
New graduates or experienced environmental engineers / data scientists with up to 8 years’ experience, ideally in hydrology, groundwater, and / or flood modelling.A degree from a well-recognised university in Environmental Science, Environmental or Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, Geography, or similar.Excellent programming skills in Python, familiarity with Jupyter Notebooks, RStudio, GIS software (ArcGIS / QGIS), and Microsoft Office suite.Proficiency with some of the following is ideal : TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, MODFLOW, or other groundwater and flood modelling software.Knowledge of hydrological, groundwater, and water resource principles.Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent organisational skills.Creative thinking to find innovative and sound solutions for clients.A collegial, team-player attitude with a ‘can do’ approach.Compensation & Benefits
