We are the northernmost iwi of the Tainui waka. Te Kawerau Iwi Tiaki Trust is the mandated organisation responsible for delivering social, cultural, environmental and economic wellbeing outcomes for the iwi. Our mahi is grounded in our whakapapa and guided by the values of manaakitanga, kotahitanga, kaitiakitanga and rangatiratanga.

About the role

Kaimahi Taiao – Te Henga Engagement Officer (Fixed Term, 1.0 FTE, 1 year) will support iwi-led climate adaptation and resilience planning for Te Henga. The role will :

• Help shape inter-generational strategies for how our iwi and wider community adapt to a changing climate within the Te Henga catchment
• Focus on marae resilience, strengthening connections between our people, place, and environment through shared learning, restoration, and community engagement
• Support kaitiakitanga initiatives and Te Ao Māori values in environmental planning and projects
• Assist in fostering the reconnection of Te Kawerau ā Maki to Te Henga, advancing a resilient future for our hapori and whenua
