The APPA coordinator’s primary role will be to support and maintain the general operations and administration of APPA, with guidance from the APPA Committee.
The role is varied. Your amazing organisational skills will help build momentum and grow awareness for action on plastic pollution in Aotearoa, Te Moananui a Kiwa and beyond. This role will help APPA take a significant leap in impact, and your deep commitment to addressing plastic pollution and honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi will ensure APPA’s purpose is brought to life.
APPA exists to prevent plastic pollution in Aotearoa and the wider world to restore the mauri of Papatūānuku (Land / Earth), Ranginui (Sky / Air), Wai (Freshwater), Tangaroa (Ocean) and all other living beings in our Taiao.
APPA is a collaborative forum of researchers, educators, artists, activists, and community leaders working to end plastic pollution through holistic systemic transformation. Our members facilitate and participate in interdisciplinary academic research, citizen science, activism and advocacy, art displays, and public events in our work against plastic pollution.
The coordinator will report to the APPA Chair and Trustees.
The successful applicant will :
Have a basic understanding of (or be willing to learn about) relevant policies, actors, institutions, issues and events surrounding plastic pollution
Be confident in written and verbal communication, with strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
Be familiar with, or willing to learn, platforms such as Canva, Google Docs, Microsoft Office, and basic website / social media management.
Be motivated, proactive, and able to build and maintain relationships.
Have some experience with funding applications and sponsorship, or a willingness to learn
Have an understanding of and genuine commitment to upholding Te Tiriti of Waitangi, in line with the organisation’s commitment to this
