Overview
Lightspeed seeks a Vice President of Engineering to lead a 100+ engineer team in Auckland, shaping our flagship retail platform with a focus on Point of Sale and wholesale selling. This role offers broad strategic responsibility across APAC and beyond.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with company goals
- Lead and mentor a high‑performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration
- Oversee the product lifecycle from ideation to deployment, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality products
- Provide technical direction and guidance, and create a target‑state architecture for the team to drive toward
- Partner with the Auckland senior leadership team to enhance office culture and morale to attract and retain top talent
- Act as a spokesperson internally and externally across Auckland and globally
- Identify and fix the largest issues across technology, prioritising work and removing key roadblocks for the team
Requirements
15+ years of product development experience, with senior engineering leadership experienceProven track record of managing complex product portfolios and delivering successful SaaS products for small‑medium business customersExperience building and leading high‑performing engineering teams, focusing on mentoring and talent developmentDeep expertise in software architecture, system design, and emerging technologiesExperience leading major technical initiatives such as addressing scalability challenges and driving architectural evolutionStrong business acumen with ability to understand and drive key business metricsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, proven ability to work effectively across diverse teams and stakeholdersBenefits and Perks
