About the role :
Join our dynamic team as our Health, Safety and Quality Manager and take the reins in ensuring top-notch health, safety, quality, and compliance standards within Abodo.
This role will encompass developing and implementing comprehensive strategies, fostering sustainable forestry practices, and guaranteeing the delivery of premium timber products to global markets. If you're ready to champion stringent health and safety protocols, drive quality control initiatives, and navigate regulatory landscapes alongside industry giants like the Ministry of Primary Industries, Code Mark, and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), then this is the opportunity for you!
This role is based in our new manufacturing site in Ohinewai, Waikato, reporting to the Head of Operations and Supply Chain. This role does require occasional travel to our head office in Auckland.
Day in the life :
Health, Safety, and Wellbeing :
Develop, implement and maintain health and safety protocols aligned with WorkSafe guidelines and industry standards.
Regularly assess risks, identify hazards, and conduct inspections to ensure workplace safety.
Deliver comprehensive safety training across all levels and departments.
Quality Management System :
Establish and maintain a robust quality management system to meet industry and customer expectations.
Implement quality control procedures and metrics to monitor product quality throughout production.
Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.
Compliance Programs :
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements from the Ministry of Primary Industries, Code Mark, and FSC.
Monitor regulatory changes and update policies accordingly.
Prepare and submit documentation for regulatory agencies and certification bodies.
Coordinate internal and external audits to assess compliance performance and address any issues.
About you :
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Quality Management, Environmental Science, or related field.
Proven experience (5+ years) in health and safety preferably within the timber or manufacturing industry.
Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective strategies, policies, and procedures.
Experience in conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
