• The Commercial Lead role supports Watercare’s commercial strategy by ensuring robust contract management, compliance, and best practices across Programme Delivery. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, supporting team capability, and delivering optimal outcomes for Watercare’s customers and stakeholders.Key responsibilities include :
• Champion commercial governance and process management, ensuring consistency and compliance across all projects.
• Developing and delivering commercial training for project teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Leading risk management initiatives, identifying and mitigating commercial risks in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Supporting procurement and tendering processes, ensuring documentation meets high standards and aligns with Watercare’s strategic objectives.
• Maintaining accurate records and reporting, supporting transparency and auditability.

• To be successful in this role you will have at least 7 year’s experience in commercial or contract management, preferably in a client organisation or within a supply chain function.Your skills will also include
• Qualified to degree level in a relevant discipline, preferably a tertiary qualification in Commercial Management, Business Management, Law, Construction or Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional membership in a relevant industry association is preferred.
• Strong understanding of NZS 3910 & NZS 3916 contracts and their application in client-side contract management.
• Experience in procurement, tendering, and contract administration.
• Knowledge of commercial risk management principles and contract compliance requirements.
• Experience in developing and maintaining commercial training materials and commercial governance frameworks.
• Familiarity with Watercare or the Water Industry is advantageous.
