About The Role

At McCain, Packing Operators are business-critical team members who ensure the safe and efficient running of our packing lines for locally grown potato products.

As part of our 24 / 7 facility in Timaru, you will join a small, supportive team maintaining product quality and safety standards.

Your role is hands-on and fast-paced, involving machine operation and manual handling, with a focus on both teamwork and individual responsibility.

Full training will be provided, ensuring you have the knowledge and support needed to succeed in your role.

What You'll Be Doing

Operate and troubleshoot packing equipment such as graders, weighers, baggers, case packers, tapers, coders, pallet wrappers, and labellers

Accurately complete quality and operational documentation

Maintain exceptional hygiene and food safety practices

Proactively identify and report workplace hazards

Uphold the line productivity, safety, and product quality

Participate in a roster consisting of 12-hour shifts :

2 days (7am–7pm), 2 nights (7pm–7am), followed by 4 days off

Perform manual handling tasks as required

Solve operational problems quickly and effectively

Collaborate with teammates, supporting a safe and productive environment

What You'll Need To Be Successful

Strong commitment to health and safety as your top priority

Previous machine operation experience (advantageous but not essential)

Previous forklift operation experience (advantageous but not essential)

Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability

Comfortable using simple touch screen controls as part of daily tasks

Good computer and data entry skills

Clear communication and a positive, team-focused attitude

Willingness to learn, with demonstrated initiative and reliability

Sufficient strength and fitness to manage role's physical demands

Legally entitled to work in New Zealand

Ability to undergo pre-employment medical, drug screening, and reference checks
