About the Role

As Head of Sourcing Execution within the PSC&HTM function, you will lead a team of Sourcing Execution professionals and will ensure contracts developed within the team are robust, fit for purpose and mitigate contractual risk. You will also be responsible for ensuring the sourcing strategies drive efficiency, innovation, and value.

You’ll be at the forefront of procurement and contracting, managing the end-to-end sourcing process, from planning through to contract implementation, while ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, and aligning with broader organisational goals. This role works closely with category management teams and senior stakeholders to deliver commercial excellence and optimise supply chain performance.

About the Team / Service / Location

The PSC&HTM team at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora are a national function with a vast and complex scope. They play a critical role in ensuring the availability, safety, and efficiency of clinical and non-clinical goods and services across the health system. Responsible for managing and influencing over $9 billion in annual spend, the team are central to delivering high-quality patient outcomes and standardising product usage across regions.

About you

You are a strategic sourcing leader with deep expertise in procurement operations, commercial frameworks, and have a track record of commercial excellence. With over a decade of experience in sourcing, including five years in senior leadership, you bring a proven ability to lead and grow high‑performing teams and deliver measurable financial and operational outcomes.

You’ve worked in complex, fast‑paced environments before and are known for your ability to drive innovation, influence at senior levels, and build strong relationships across internal and external networks. Your leadership style is collaborative and forward thinking, and you’re passionate about developing capability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

You’re confident navigating ambiguity and change, and bring a strong understanding of procurement technologies, market dynamics, and strategic sourcing methodologies.

You will bring

• A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Master's degree or CIPS qualification desirable)
• 10+ years' experience in sourcing, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role
• Proven success in leading sourcing functions and implementing procurement strategies in large, complex environments
• Strong financial management skills and a track record of delivering cost savings and value enhancement
• Deep understanding of procurement processes, contract development, and risk mitigation
• Experience building strategic partnerships and influencing at senior levels
• Experience in health and / or public sector environments (desirable)
• Experience working in multicultural and diverse environments, with a strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022
