Farm Foreman / Forewoman
Overview
The Farm Foreman / Forewoman will lead and coordinate daily farm operations, supervise a small team, and maintain animal health and safety on a beef cattle ranch.
Responsibilities
- Conduct artificial insemination and spraying or shearing of livestock or disinfecting pens, barns or poultry houses.
- Diagnose livestock health issues.
- Direct farm feed inventory activities.
- Direct farm grooming activities.
- Handle animals.
- Monitor the calving process.
- Monitor animal health.
- Organize tasks to accomplish the work.
- Supervise milking operations to ensure work is done correctly.
- Treat livestock health issues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio‑security procedures.
- Carry out pasture or pen breeding programs.
- Co‑ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers.
- Ensure farm safety and bio‑security procedures are followed.
- Formulate feeding program.
- Maintain livestock performance records.
- Maintain quality control and production records.
- Select livestock for sale.
- Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock‑related programs.
- Maintain work records and logs.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
- Perform general farm duties.
Qualifications
Education : Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.Experience : 1 year to less than 2 years in a similar role.Supervision : Able to manage 1 to 2 people.Equipment & machinery experience : Automated manure handling or storage system, bulk handling system, feeding and watering system, milking system (automated), storage and silage system, tractor.Area of specialization : Cattle breeding, beef cattle, dairy cattle.Personal suitability : Excellent oral communication, organized, team player.Work conditions & physical capabilities : Physically demanding, fast‑paced, attentive to detail, comfortable standing / walking for extended periods.Location & Compensation
Location : Curries Road Woodstock, ON N4S 7V8 (On‑site).
Salary : $25.00 per hour, 40 hours per week.
Terms : Permanent full‑time employment.
Working hours : Early morning, day, evening, weekend, flexible hours, overtime available; starts as soon as possible.
