Head Housekeeper - Twizel

Distinction Mackenzie Country Hotel Twizel are seeking a hands-on and motivated Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping department.

This role requires a leader who can not only manage and mentor a team but also lead by example with a willingness to step in and clean up to 10 rooms on average per day.

You will be responsible for the coordination and supervision of all housekeeping services including guest rooms, function spaces, public areas, laundry, and staff training.

Maintaining high presentation standards, cost efficiency, and guest satisfaction are key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise, mentor, and motivate the housekeeping team to achieve consistently high standards.

Assist with daily room cleaning and servicing an average 10 rooms per day.

Ensure the highest levels of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation across the hotel.

Manage stock control, equipment maintenance, and departmental expenses.

Lead staff training, orientation, and ongoing development.

Support interdepartmental collaboration to ensure smooth operations.

Maintain a strong focus on guest satisfaction and handle guest requests or concerns professionally.

Uphold all safety, security, and company policies.

What We're Looking For

A proven leader with prior housekeeping or supervisory experience in hotels or similar environments.

A hands-on manager who is willing to clean alongside their team.

Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation standards.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to train, mentor, and inspire a team.

Good physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks (bending, lifting, standing for extended periods).
