We’re looking for a passionate Senior Horticulturist & Arboriculturist to join our Parks and Open Spaces team at New Plymouth District Council.

In this hands‑on leadership role, you’ll help shape and care for our stunning parks, gardens, and open spaces - bringing your expertise in horticulture and arboriculture to life across a diverse and dynamic landscape.

• Deliver top‑notch horticulture and arboriculture services that make a real impact in our community - guided by our Arboriculture Specialist and aligned with industry best practices.
• Lead, train and inspire your team to grow their skills and deliver exceptional results every day.
• Champion a safe, fair and compliant workplace by ensuring we meet all our obligations as a responsible employer - especially when it comes to key legislation and standards.
• Relevant National qualification in Arboriculture.
• Drivers Licence for relevant vehicle classes.
• Field experience in the arboriculture and horticulture industry.
• Demonstrated competency in the coordination of staff and resources.
• Familiarity with industry standards, procedures and practices.
