Graduate–Intermediate Geophysicist | Start from early December 2025

Are you a geophysicist who loves the outdoors, interpreting subsurface data and helping clients and stakeholders make informed decisions? Cook Costello is on the lookout for a Graduate to Intermediate Geophysicist (2–5 years’ experience) to join our Wellington or Christchurch team, with flexibility for the right candidate to be based elsewhere in New Zealand.

You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team of geotechnical, civil, and structural engineers, surveyors, and project managers, working together to map and understand the ground beneath our projects.

This role offers a balanced mix of field and office work (approximately 50 / 50), from planning and executing surveys to interpreting results and preparing clear, insightful reports that influence engineering design and decision‑making.

What You’ll Do

• Plan and carry out engineering geophysical investigations for a variety of projects across New Zealand.
• Collect and process data using methods such as MASW, seismic refraction, resistivity, GPR, and determine Vs30.
• Interpret and present geophysical data in reports, maps, and visual formats for internal and client use.
• Work closely with geotechnical and structural engineers to integrate findings into practical engineering solutions.
• Participate in project planning, client meetings, and contribute to continuous improvement in field and analysis processes.
