• Registered Nurse - Forensic Community Team - Te Whatu Ora, Waitemata
• Permanent, Full-time position
• Monday to Friday (with on-call roster)
• Covers greater Auckland Region
• Based in Point Chevalier
• The Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service, or the Mason Clinic delivers a comprehensive range of Forensic Mental Health Services, including secure inpatient acute and rehabilitation services which connect to community rehabilitation services, services for offenders with an intellectual disability, culture specific programmes for Maori, court liaison and prison mental health services. This includes a regional service to Northland Region Corrections Facility at Ngawha and Northland.
• About the role :
• An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join our Community Mental Health Forensic Service based at the Mason Clinic in a rehabilitation / transition role.The role comprises case management and intensive work with people experiencing severe enduring mental illness linked to offending histories, to develop skills for their transition to the community. This includes (but not limited to) assessing, evaluating and modifying structured weekly plans to facilitate client’s functioning in the community. Working alongside a hostel type ward on site at the Mason Clinic, our NGO partners, GP’s, work rehabilitation and employers to support the gradual reintegration of service users back in to the community.We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Mental Health Registered Nurse with extensive experience of working in the mental health sector. Ideally, you will have Forensic experience but not entirely necessary as we will provide a thorough orientation to the position and will support your on-going professional development needs.The hours of work are hrs Monday to Friday. On call roster to cover weekends / Public holidays.
• Requirements :
• Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
• Hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate+
• With scope to work in a mental health setting
• 2+ years of Mental Health Nursing experience
• Current PDRP
• minimum Level 2 – competent healthcare portfolio
• Full NZ driver’s licence
• A strong commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and ensuring equitable outcomes for all
• Ability to be a positive role model to others with a good sense of humour and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
