The International Antarctic Centre (IAC) is the gateway to the coldest, driest, and windiest continent on Earth. We are seeking enthusiastic, energetic, and customer‑focused individuals to join our team as Antarctic Ambassadors to assist our guests through their Antarctic Adventure! The Role
You will be the first point of contact for our diverse visitors from around the globe. Your primary goal will be to ensure every guest has a memorable and exceptional experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Information & Guidance : Provide detailed and engaging information about all IAC exhibits, attractions (e.g., Hagglund Ride, Penguin Encounter), facilities, and general Christchurch tourist information.
- Group Management : Assist with the smooth arrival and coordination of large tour groups and school visits.
- Problem Resolution : Professionally and promptly resolve visitor issues and complaints, ensuring a positive outcome.
- Retail Support : Assist in our Retail store with sales and information.
- Safety Focus : Maintain a safe and clean environment in public areas, adhering to all health and safety policies.
- Inside the Attraction : Assisting guests in our Storm Room, 4D Theatre, Science Gallery, Penguin Rescue and Husky Zone.
What You Bring
Proven Experience : Experience in a high‑volume customer service, tourism, or retail environment.Exceptional Communication : Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly and warmly communicate with people of all ages and nationalities.Enthusiasm & Energy : A positive, can‑do attitude and a genuine enthusiasm for the Antarctic, exploration, and the environment.Team Player : The ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment and contribute to a supportive team culture.Flexibility : Availability to work on a rostered basis, which includes weekends, public holidays, and during peak visitor seasons.Bonus : Multilingual abilities (especially Mandarin, Spanish, or German) are highly valued.What We Offer
