Ko tā mātou mahi ‑ Our Role

Reporting to the Director – Procurement and Supplier Management, we have an opportunity in our Procurement and Supplier Management team for an experienced ICT Senior Procurement Advisor. This role will have a focus on the Technology Modernisation project – a project designed to create a simpler, smarter technology environment that helps Kāinga Ora work more efficiently and deliver better outcomes for our customers and whanau. The role will be accountable for working with senior stakeholders to deliver value driven commercial outcomes for Kainga Ora.

A challenging and complex role with multiple influences affecting every workday, the role provides commercial leadership and intellect, strategic advice and direction, negotiation expertise; project management skills, in addition to procurement management skills. This role is critical to ensuring Kāinga Ora procures technology that will potentially be in place across the whole organisation for a substantial term. Having the experience and essentially war scars in this space would be a huge advantage.

To be successful in the role you will need to be able to demonstrate extensive experience within an ICT procurement environment from technology platforms to Integration Partners. You will be well versed in procurement best practice and familiar with achieving public value as a key success driver.

  • Lean and agile LAP procurement experience within the government sector
  • Highly effective communicator with a strong track record of managing the expectations of internal and external stakeholders and key suppliers
  • Comfortable working across the breadth of the procurement skill set
  • Ability to think outside of the box and problem solve
  • Confident in using a consultative approach in the development and execution of commercial strategies but also able to run full complex tenders through to contract award

We realise we are looking for someone with a very niche skillset. While we would prefer this role to be Wellington, Auckland or Christchurch based, if you feel you meet the requirements of the role but are based outside of these locations, we would still like to see an application from you.
