About the Role

As an Apprentice Heavy Diesel Mechanic, this role will give you both formal studies and practical experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, working within Mechanical Maintenance team at Lyttleton Port Company.

You will be fully trained in all aspects of repairs and maintenance of a wide variety of heavy diesel-powered plant, ranging from wheel loaders, bulldozers, straddle carriers, and forklifts. With a passion for mechanics, you will enjoy nutting out problems with your hands. You will have strong communication skills and thrive working independently or as part of a team.

You will have obtained a pre-apprenticeship qualification (New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Engineering Level 3), hold a current, clean driver's licence and have basic computer literacy skills.

Please note that we will be shortlisting and contacting candidates in the new year. The selection process may include but is not limited to attending an open day at Port, and if successful after that a panel interview.

Pre-employment Tests
