Role overview
This is a skilled, non-entry level Class 5 driving role.
You will operate across a variety of vehicle types and routes, encompassing local work and longer South Island trips.
You'll be part of a team that values safety, reliability, and professionalism.
Duties will include :
Drive a range of heavy vehicles within the fleet (log carriers, tippers, tractor, and trailer units) in compliance with all NZ road rules and company safety policies
Perform pre- and post-trip inspections, conduct basic defect reporting, and coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure vehicle readiness
Plan and execute local deliveries and pick-ups, as well as regional / South Island routes to support customer needs
Safely strap, secure, and manage loads according to best practices and regulatory requirements
Manage regulatory paperwork, logbooks, and timekeeping accurately using required systems
Maintain excellent communication with operations, dispatch, and customers to ensure timely, safe, and efficient transport
Demonstrate professional driving conduct, positive customer interactions, and a proactive safety mindset
Assist with occasional yard duties or general cartage as required to support operations
Skills and experience
A full NZ Class 5 license is essential
Proven, hands-on experience driving the fleet types listed i.e., log carriers, tippers, and tractor and trailer units
Demonstrated ability to work across local routes and longer South Island trips
Strong safety record and commitment to incident-free operations
High level of reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail
Good communication skills and a collaborative team attitude
Ability to complete required paperwork accurately and on time
A clean driver's licence free of any serious offences
A clean criminal history lacking any pending or existing court proceedings
