Key Responsibilities – Drainage Operator Jobs Dunedin
- Install and maintain drainage systems, pipes, culverts, and associated infrastructure with accuracy and professionalism.
- Operate excavation machinery and small plant relevant to drainage works, such as trenchers, pipe lasers, and compactors.
- Assist with site preparation, trench excavation, backfilling, and reinstatement works under supervision.
- Conduct daily pre-start safety checks and routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Interpret basic site drawings or instructions to ensure compliance with drainage plans and specifications.
- Work safely in trenches and confined spaces, following all relevant health and safety procedures and reporting hazards promptly.
- Support the wider civil construction team to deliver quality outcomes efficiently and professionally.
- Carry out general labouring and housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe and organised worksite.
Skills & Experience – Drainage and Civil Construction Roles
Experience in civil or drainage works is highly desirable, but not essential for candidates with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.Knowledge of health and safety requirements for construction and drainage worksites.Ability to work outdoors and carry out physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions.Good communication, teamwork skills, reliability, and responsible work ethic.Ability to read and follow basic plans or instructions accurately.A full New Zealand driver's licence is essential; WTR endorsements or relevant NZQA drainage certifications are an advantage, but training will be provided for the right person.Benefits – Drainage Operator Career Opportunities
