Permanent, full-time positions are available. Role can be regionally based within the successful applicant’s location. Working from home opportunity for successful applicant.

The Verifier / Lead Reviewer reports to the Manager Assurance and Eligibility.

The Verifier / Lead Reviewer makes informed independent decisions about the eligibility of ākonga to receive targeted packages of funding and work with the verification panel to reach a consensus decision about the eligibility of ākonga.

In the role you will undertake ākonga observations as needed which will require travel from time to time. You may also have a role in reviewing schools and early intervention specialist service providers to ensure the delivery of specialist support results in improved outcomes for children and young people.

As a Verifier / Lead Reviewer you will :

  • Be comfortable working and making decisions at pace and within tight deadlines.
  • Be able to use your breadth of specialist professional knowledge, skills, and experience to assess information about children and young people with the highest levels of disability.
  • Be able to work with ambiguous information.
  • Be clear about your reasons for the decisions you make and be able to communicate them in a conscientious environment.
  • Be a strong communicator, both orally and in your written work.
  • Be able to demonstrate an awareness and ownership of Māori achieving and enjoying education success as Māori in day-to-day work.

This salary range of $85,225 - $103,071 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

You will have extensive experience and knowledge of disability and / or specialist learning support services in the education sector across a range of settings and ages. You will be an experienced relationship builder and able to form partnerships to achieve shared outcomes. You would have experience leading teams or delivering a specialist service in a complex organisation.

    Te Mahau | Te Pae Aronui | Operations & Integration – Te Pae Aronui connects people, knowledge, services, and regulatory processes to help shape an inclusive education system. Te Pae Aronui was established within Te Mahau to help drive a focus on equity throughout TeTāhuhu by connecting across the Ministry and providing expert support and services into the regions. Our group provides nationally consistent service design, practice guidance and systems to support the integrated teams led by Directors of Education providing flexible and responsive services. We deliver national resourcing functions, including inclusive learning support.

    The Assurance and Eligibility Team sits within Learning Support | Te Pae Aronui (Operations & Integration). You will be joining a large team of skilled and knowledgeable Verifiers and Advisors who are passionate advocates for children and young people with disability and learning support needs. The team’s combined knowledge and experience ensure that the best decisions are made.
