You will work as part of a team at Dunedin Hospital.
Dunedin Hospital is the tertiary hospital for Otago and Southland.
It has 367 beds (due to rise) and provides Surgical, Cardiothoracic, Neurosurgery, Psychogeriatric, Children's health, Maternity, Medical, and Geriatric services.
At times you may be required to provide chaplaincy services at Wakari Hospital.
Wakari has 116 beds providing Adult Mental Health and Addiction Services and an adult rehabilitation unit for under 65 year olds with physical and neurological challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver spiritual healthcare to patients suffering ill health or accident, to their whanau, and to staff within a public hospital.
Respond to crisis calls from hospital staff, patients and whanau including "on call" hours.
Regularly, and on request, visit wards and units to provide spiritual care and attend appropriate meetings within the hospital.
Conduct spiritual and religious services and rituals in the hospital.
Collaborate in multi-disciplinary meetings, therapeutic groups and other processes as appropriate to role.
Team up and work positively as a unified Chaplaincy team in each Hospital.
Support colleagues within regional chaplaincy teams and across the Motu.
Train and supervise Volunteer Chaplaincy Assistants.
Qualifications
Empathy and compassion.
Excellent listening and pastoral skills.
A good level of religious, spiritual, and theological understanding.
Knowledge and experience in a ministry of pastoral care in a health or faith community leadership.
