Greater Wellington Regional Council – Wellington Central, North Island

We're looking for a Team Leader to join our dedicated Community Resilience (CR) team. This full-time time role is based in our Thorndon office in Wellington, with regular travel around the region.

The CR team works closely with a range of community partners and key stakeholders to deliver the outcomes set out in the Wellington CDEM Group Plan and WREMO's Annual Plan.

About the role :

As the Team Leader CR you will support the Manager, Community Resilience and Recovery by leading the team, supporting them on a day-to-day basis across the full range of work programmes, projects, plans and initiatives by providing advice, guidance, direction, expertise and support.

In an emergency, your primary role will be to carry out the duties required by the Group Controller and wider Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) / Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) team in response. You may also be required to perform other response or recovery roles as necessary.

Skills and experience required :

  • Significant experience in community development and community resilience initiatives within the CDEM or a similar sector.
  • Significant experience leading high performing teams, sometimes in stressful and ambiguous environments.
  • Experience managing senior relationships to achieve a unified approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to absorb information, analyse situations, take advice, formulate strategies and plans, then implement them and evaluate outcomes.
  • Capable of leading in ambiguity and to switch leadership style depending on the situation.
  • Able to respond calmly and positively to challenging event.

    The salary range for this position, inclusive of all benefits, is $114,269 to $171,403, with a midpoint of $142,836. Starting remuneration will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
