We're seeking an Emergency Management Advisor to help strengthen community resilience and lead effective emergency response and recovery across the Wellington region, as part of our friendly and dedicated team. This full‑time role is based in the Kāpiti Coast.
Disasters can’t always be prevented, but with the right preparation, their impact can be reduced and communities can recover faster and stronger. That’s where you come in.
About the role
As Emergency Management Advisor, when emergencies occur, you will play a hands‑on role in supporting the region’s response and recovery efforts—whether at the Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC), a local Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), a Regional Recovery Office, or wherever you’re needed most. The work can be demanding, involving long hours, weekend shifts, and fast‑paced environments, but your contribution will be vital. WREMO is committed to staff wellbeing and will support you every step of the way during these challenging situations.
You may also be part of WREMO’s 24 / 7 Duty Officer system, rotating with other team members to provide around‑the‑clock emergency management coverage. As Duty Officer, you will act as the first point of contact, monitoring events, liaising with key partners, and initiating response actions when needed.
