Waitomo Waipa Women’s Refuge (WWWR) provides advocacy and support for women, children, and whānau affected by family violence, empowering our community to thrive free from harm, walking alongside wāhine, Tamariki, and their whānau to create safe, inclusive environments for all.

Our work is guided by the cornerstones of the Refuge movement :

• Parallel development : Ensuring the needs of Māori are met in ways that best suit Māori
• Collectivism : To ensure consensus decision-making, and in recognition that the actions of one refuge reflects on the refuge movement as a whole
• Feminism : Celebrating women’s contribution to society

The Role

As an Advocate, you will provide crisis support, guidance, and education to whānau experiencing family violence. You’ll work directly with clients, helping them access resources, navigate systems, and build pathways to safe, thriving lives. This role requires cultural awareness, empathy, and the ability to foster trust and understanding.

The role is full-time, based in Te Awamutu working 40 hours per week. We encourage work / life balance and embrace the juggle of life, so we are open to flexibility around start and finish times.
