The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Asset and Project Engineer to join our team in the Central Hawke's Bay. You will oversee the delivery and acceptance of assets into operations, managing both internal and external project delivery while ensuring compliance with the Veolia CHB 551 O&M contract. The primary purpose of this role is to establish seamless procedural and contractual frameworks that enable effective collaboration between project delivery and operational / asset management teams, ensuring optimal asset performance throughout the entire asset lifecycle.

Responsibilities
The primary Veolia contact for the Central Hawke’s Bay District Council (CHBDC) Project Delivery Team (PDT) for projects and assets that are or will form part of operational delivery.Management of all project delivery tasks and responsibility for investigating, developing, planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical and project management / delivery aspects of projects.Preparation of internal project and senior management approval documentation necessary for securing project funding.Managing the delivery of assets into the operational remit, ensuring full adoption of asset‑management practices within delivery and systems (i.e. VAMS).Overseeing the delivery of all asset‑management activities for the 551 contract.Work across all main engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, process, electrical).Procurement activities relating to project delivery.Preparation of contractual documentation relating to project delivery based on best practice.Client, contractor and supplier liaison and communications.Budget monitoring and project delivery tracking through regular earned‑value analysis and Gantt‑chart updates (programme and performance).Quality and environmental control activities as required by the project.Resolving of project engineering and project management issues.Leading multidisciplinary teams on individual projects.Contribution to the management of health and safety, quality and environmental management systems, while applying these procedures in all aspects of work.On‑time and on‑budget project delivery.Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor of Engineering degree (mechanical or process).Experience / Skills
Familiarity with PMI, Prince2 or Agile.At least ten years’ experience in a water or wastewater project environment.Proven design, construction and project management experience.Ability to work across all main engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, process, electrical); with the ability to deliver independent project management services in a client / customer facing environment.Ability to manage projects up to $5 M within time and budget constraints.Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues in a networked matrix organisation.Proficiency to understand and use appropriate business and contracting models.Experience in capital works design and delivery with knowledge of construction, specifically in relation to water and wastewater treatment and reticulation infrastructure.Ability to organise resources, establish priorities and meet deadlines through balancing commitments and priorities, to deliver in time, within budget.Conversant with QA systems such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and contract documentation such as NZS 3910 : 2013 & NZS 3916 : 2013 Conditions of Contract for Building and Civil Engineering Construction.Strong literacy, numeracy, computing, communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with an aptitude for both office and field work, while developing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients and contractors.Important for Applicants
