Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of housing, health, social, and financial needs
- Develop family-led support plans and realistic goals
- Coordinate services and referrals (health, budgeting, parenting, etc.)
- Advocate with and for Whānau with external agencies and systems
- Track progress, manage risk, and ensure safety
- Prepare households for tenancy sustainment and exit planning
- Maintain accurate records in line with compliance requirements
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years experience in social work, community development, occupational therapy, or similarBe Culturally Responsive : Have experience building rapport across cultures, with proven experience supporting Māori, Pacific, and migrant communities.Have a Good Understanding of Housing : Good understanding of how Ministry of Social Development and Kāinga Ora operate; and understand the realities of housing support in NZ.Be Outcome-Oriented : Have solid experience achieving practical progress with the Whānau you support.Have Risk Assessment Skills : Strong expertise assessing for and manage risk, including completing relevant documentation; and escalating appropriately.Be Skilled in De-escalation : Able to stay calm and respond constructively when tenants are distressed, angry, or overwhelmed; understanding that your personal safety is paramount.Be Administration Competent : Competent using relevant software and databases for managing tenancy (or similar) information and communication.Be Empathetic and Resilient : Have heart, while understanding the demands of the mahi; and be able to maintain strong professional boundaries throughout.Have the Right to work : You need to have a legal right to work in New Zealand (e.g., New Zealand citizen, resident, valid work visa).Desirable
A qualification in social services, housing, occupational therapy, knowledge of Te reo Māori or Pacific languages would be an added bonus.Benefits
