We have a permanent full-time position available in the Nelson / Tasman region. Join the team at Nelmac Kūmānu and help build and maintain the essential infrastructure that keeps our communities connected. We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Pipelayer to join our Water Projects Team within the Water Division.

This role offers variety, stability, and the chance to work on meaningful infrastructure projects across the Nelson / Tasman region. Our crew delivers a wide range of civil construction and infrastructure projects, specialising in water, wastewater, and stormwater networks. We take pride in producing quality work and building infrastructure that lasts.

About the Role

You’ll play a key part in installing new pipelines, fittings, and connections for subdivisions, infrastructure upgrades, and network renewals.

This is a hands‑on, physical role, ideal for someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, working with machinery, and being part of a supportive, hardworking team.

You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in pipelaying, drainlaying, or civil construction
  • Competence operating machinery and small plant (excavators, compactors, etc.)
  • Knowledge of water, wastewater, and stormwater systems
  • Solid physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in all conditions
  • A keenness to support less experienced team mates
  • A Class 1 driver’s licence (WTR endorsements and / or Class 2 licence an advantage)
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
  • A positive attitude and pride in your workmanship
