As a Kaimahi (Support Worker) , you will be part of a dedicated team providing 24‑hour wraparound support within a home‑like environment. You will role‑model positive behaviours, uphold safety, and walk alongside tamariki and rangatahi as they navigate daily routines, emotions, schooling, whānau relationships, and personal goals.
This role requires "kia tauterangimarie" – calmness under pressure, patience, resilience, and the ability to maintain a culturally safe, therapeutic environment anchored in tikanga Māori.
You will work rotating 24‑hour shifts (minimum 4 days on per roster). This includes days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities (Expanded)
As a Kaimahi, your responsibilities include (but are not limited to) :
Direct Care & Support
Maintain daily routines such as waking, meals, schooling, activities, and evening routines.
Support emotional wellbeing, self‑regulation, and positive behaviour.
Role‑model healthy life skills, communication, boundaries, and problem‑solving.
Cultural Practice
Work within akaupapa Māori framework.
Protect the mana, tapu, and safety of each rangatahi.
Professional Expectations
Understand individual plans and support rangatahi to meet their goals.
Work collaboratively with whānau, social workers, Oranga Tamariki, health professionals, schools, and community services.
Attend key meetings, appointments, staff hui, and training.
Accurately complete reports, incident notes, and documentation in line with policy and legislation.
Maintain professional conduct, confidentiality, and always uphold organisational values.
Support basic household tasks : cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, organising activities, and maintaining a calm and safe whare.
Demonstrate strong personal hygiene and ensure hygiene standards are upheld for tamariki and rangatahi.
Follow health and safety processes, risk plans, and emergency procedures.

You will bring :
A genuine passion for supporting rangatahi to thrive.
Patience, resilience, and strong communication skills.
A willingness to learn and work within tikanga Māori and kaupapa Māori practice.
Reliability and the ability to work flexible, long shifts.
Strong reading, writing and report‑writing abilities.
A valid work visa with at least 12 months remaining.
A full, clean NZ driver’s licence.
A clean Police Vetting Check and CYRAS clearance.
Understanding of basic health and safety expectations.
Willingness to Obtain (with our support)
