Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher
An exciting, new position has opened in our junior team for 2026. We are looking for a permanent kaiako to teach a Y2–3 class, who is passionate about the structured literacy approach and Tiriti-based practice for the 2026 school year.
Te Uru Karaka Newton Central School is set in the inner city, but our landscape makes our kura dynamic and different from the surrounding schools. We are surrounded by native trees with a forest running through the school. Our kura provides three pathways, Te Puāwaitanga (English-Medium), Awahou (Dual Immersion) and Te Uru Karaka (Māori Medium).
Te Uru Karaka Newton Central School’s vision statement : Aroha mai, Aroha atu, Mana mai, Mana atu - says that when we demonstrate respect and love for ourselves, we can demonstrate respect and love for others, and underpins everything we do at our kura. Our Learner Profile is defined by four pou values : Whanaungatanga, Kaitiakitanga, Rangatiratanga and Manaakitanga. These Pou represent our values and are threaded through our kura Tiriti-based approach.
