About the Role

We have an opportunity for a motivated Registered Midwife to join our team at the Bay of Islands Maternity Unit in Kawakawa.

You will work closely with the community and hospital Midwives of the Bay of Islands.

You will have the opportunity to support women and whanau throughout their pregnancy journey, helping them to achieve their own birth and health goals.

About the Team / Service / Location

The Bay of Islands Primary Maternity Unit serves whanau across the Mid North.

We have 2 birth rooms and 5 postnatal rooms.

Our closest secondary unit is approximately 55 minutes away in Whangarei.

We are a close knit team who work collaboratively with our LMC colleagues to provide primary midwifery services to whanau.

About you

Working with a passionate, multi-disciplinary team who place great value on putting people first, you will have the standard of clinical practice and expertise necessary to effectively provide for hapu mama and whanau needs within the service here in Te Tai Tokerau.

Registered Midwife with a current practicing certificate with Midwifery Council of New ZealandRelevant knowledge and clinical experience in a midwifery / maternity settingGood communication skillsDemonstrate an ability to practice in a culturally safe mannerCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working at Health New Zealand
