About the Role
As an Elective Surgery Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of Planned Care services across Northland hospitals.
This includes the line management of some staff at Whangarei Hospital, specifically those involved in planned care and acute arranged bookings.
You will coordinate streamlined planned care processes in alignment with Ministry of Health business rules, working closely with the surgical multidisciplinary teams both at Whangarei and a regional level.
The role also involves maintaining strong communication with private providers, to support the scheduling and planning of patients receiving planned care.
The planned care team are a dynamic solutions focused team based at Whangarei Hospital dedicated to providing a timely and smooth pathway for northland people requiring surgical treatment.
We work closely with our regional partners and private health providers to support this access.

About you
As an Elective Surgery Coordinator, you will have proven experience in a continuous improvement facilitator / leadership / coordinator role – preferably within planned care, with clinical health care experience and an ability to be flexible, adaptive, prioritize and deliver to tight deadlines.
Proven management of processes / systems / people
Excellent and proven record in customer relations
New Zealand public health environment experience
Excellent understanding of Elective Surgery Processes
Experience in coordination of Planned Care (formerly Elective Services) is desirable.
