Become a HIP and join our great team of clinicians (HIP’s) who are innovative and experienced in working with general practice patients providing behavioural health services to assist in improving individuals and whanau in their emotional and physical health, and overall wellbeing.
As a HIP, you will be integrated into Broadway Health Kaikohe, a well-established general practice, with a large patient base and will work within the practice team in supporting the wellbeing needs of the community the general practice serves.
About the role
Our HIP’s work under the very successful Te Tumu Waiora model of care providing immediately accessible, evidence-based brief interventions to individuals and their whanau.
Services are provided in accordance with the principles of Te Tiriti ō Waitangi, Tikanga and Māori models of health and wellbeing and are culturally responsive to the needs of all service users. New HIP’s attend specialist training and are well supported. All HIP’s enjoy collegial support, peer group meetings, and ongoing training.
A day in the life of a HIP will likely include :
What you need to be able to demonstrate to be considered for a HIP role :
A minimum of 3 years professional experience in a health setting preferably in mental health and addictions including providing evidence-based brief interventions such as ACT, FACT or CBT
A flexible adaptable approach to a new way of working
current New Zealand registration under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA) and full registration with your professional association e.g., Psychology, Psychotherapy, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapy, or Social Work, or a full member of NZ Association of Counsellors and accredited by the NZAC to work within the mental health and addictions services scope of practice.
Professional experience in your registered field, minimum 3 years
Clinical experience working in mental health and addiction environments (primary or secondary) providing evidence-based brief interventions such as ACT, FACT or CBT.
A current unencumbered full NZ driver’s licence
Excellent computer and literacy skills including MS Office Suite
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Be fully vaccinated for COVID
You must have NZ citizenship or residency, or a current NZ open work visa not tied to an employer to be eligible for this role. We are not an accredited immigration employer and cannot accept applications who require visa support.
An understanding of Tikanga and some ability to speak Te Reo would be an advantage.
