Lightspeed is looking for a Vice President of Engineering to join our Product & Technology team in Auckland. This is a rare opportunity to step into a VP-level role with a global organization while remaining in New Zealand. You’ll lead a growing team of around 100 engineers and play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction and future of our flagship retail platform, used by merchants all over the world.

Our engineering team is on a mission to build the core components of Lightspeed Retail, with a focus on Point of Sale and Wholesale selling. As VP of Engineering, you’ll not only drive technical excellence and scalable growth across APAC, but also have a material impact on the experience of merchants globally.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Develop and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with company goals.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
• Oversee the entire product lifecycle from ideation to deployment, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
• Provide technical direction and guidance, and create a target state architecture for the team to drive toward.
• Partner with the Auckland Senior Leadership team to enhance office culture and morale to attract and retain top talent.
• Act as a spokesperson internally and externally across Auckland and globally.
• Identify and fix the largest issues across Technology, from prioritising work to removing key roadblocks for the team.
• Contribute as part of the wider team to achieve organizational objectives even if this means doing things that aren’t strictly within the scope of your role.
