We are looking for 2 people to join our team as Animal Keeper Assistant / s. You will help provide a high standard of husbandry and daily care by meeting the various welfare needs of our domestic animal collection. You will assist in developing and participating in various training and enrichment programmes and deliver exciting visitor experiences and take-home messages to inspire positive action for wildlife and our environment.

He korero mou : About you

You will have previous experience working with a range of domestic species in an animal care setting.

You will also have :

• Excellent communication skills.
• A positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to provide high levels of animal husbandry, training, and enrichment.
• Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare and knowledge of the 5 domains of animal welfare.
• Full driver's license and the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
• Recognised qualifications in Domestic Animal care will be an advantage.

A high level of energy and physical fitness is necessary to ensure you meet the daily challenges of the role. Heavy lifting (up to 20kg) of feed bags and hay bales is required.

These are part-time, fixed-term positions for six months where you will work a set three-day roster, every fortnight on alternating weekends. This will include weekends and some public holidays.
