About the role
We have an exciting opportunity at our SPCA Wellington Centre for a :
Permanent – Full-Time
40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday as rostered
As an Animal Attendant, you'll play a key part in ensuring the health, welfare, and happiness of animals in SPCA's care.
Key responsibilities
Provide high-quality care, feeding, and hygiene for animals in SPCA's custody
Support animal enrichment, socialisation, and behavioural training
Administer treatments and assist with veterinary or rehabilitation plans as directed
Keep accurate records of animals' health, behaviour, and plans
Deliver excellent customer service to visitors, volunteers, and fosterers
Assist with adoptions and educate the public on animal welfare
Support team operations and contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace
Actively promote and maintain health and safety practices
About you
You'll be a compassionate, reliable team player who's committed to animal welfare and can thrive in a busy, hands-on environment.
You will have :
Proven experience in animal care, handling, and welfare
A relevant qualification (e.g. Certificate or Diploma in Animal Care, Welfare or Behaviour) – desirable
Confidence handling domestic animals (experience with farm animals an advantage)
Good communication and teamwork skills
Strong attention to detail and record-keeping ability
Physical fitness and resilience to work in an emotionally demanding environment
Experience working or volunteering in an animal shelter, kennel, cattery, or similar environment
Experience working with or supporting volunteers
Work with a passionate, supportive, and mission-driven team
