Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting two Kaiwhakatere Tautoko Kahukura - Rainbow Support Navigators to join the Mana Taurite me te Oranga Tauira - Student Equity and Wellbeing team on a fixed-term, part time contract from 12 January 2026 - 27 November 2026. The hours are Monday-Friday either 9am-12 : 45pm or 12 : 30pm-4 : 15pm. This is an in-person role with the ability to work from home one day a fortnight.
The Navigators are the key point of contact for rainbow and takatāpui students who want to connect with support, advice, and community.
The Navigators warmly welcome students and support their wellbeing, sense of belonging, and success. They curate regular communication and host community building events.
The Navigators closely collaborate with student leader and staff partners, including providing training to increase the rainbow inclusion confidence of our University community.
Key responsibilities :
You will be a motivated person, with a strong understanding of the needs of Rainbow people, who enjoys providing support and wants to make a positive difference doing meaningful work.
Key requirements :
Strong experience with, and understanding of, the needs of Rainbow people (LGBTQIA+, Takatāpui, MVPFAFF+).
