Au Mahi | What You Will Do

Join our Professional and Community Engagement team focussed on supporting students through practical learning, career development, and workplace experiences.

As a PACE Teaching Assistant, you will assist students in developing their confidence, skills, and employability through Work-Integrated Learning (WIL).

In this role, you will support PACE students by providing academic and teaching assistance.

This includes marking assessments and providing feedback; offering student support through drop-ins, email, and coursework guidance; contributing to workshops; creating an inclusive learning environment; monitoring student progress and raising concerns when necessary.

You will stay informed through lectures and meetings, and contribute to UC's values, wellbeing culture, and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Mou | Who You Are

You are an enthusiastic and organised individual who enjoys supporting student learning and contributing to a collaborative academic community.

You will also have :

Education : you will be undertaking advanced study in a relevant discipline (minimum : 3rd year of undergraduate studies); or postgraduate study, Masters' or PhD, is desired.

An understanding of experiential learning such as Work-Integrated Learning (WIL), Career Development Learning (CDL), and are keen to apply this in a student-focused teaching environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback.

Proven organisational skills, including time management and the ability to meet marking deadlines.

Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when marking and recording assessments.

Good computer literacy and comfort working with online learning systems.

A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively within an academic team.

Commitment to UC's values and willingness to respect and uphold tikanga, kawa, and cultural practices.

Previous tutoring or marking experience in a university environment (advantageous but not essential).
