Community Mental Health Nurse - Cads / Cors

About the Role

The Christchurch Alcohol and Drug Service located at Hillmorton Hospital provides specialised clinical work with consumers experiencing co-existing alcohol and / or drug dependence and moderate to severe mental health needs.

We are seeking a Community Mental Health Nurse who will add value, expertise and energy to this stable and cohesive team.

About You

We're looking for a staff member who is passionate about mental health and addiction, who has empathy for our client group.

We are a very supportive close-knit team that offers a warm caring environment with a strong orientation to the addiction service within Canterbury.

There will also be opportunities for community outreach, such as home visits and liaison work with clients and other agencies.

Skills and Experience

In this role, you will be responsible for :

• Provide comprehensive assessment to consumers within the service;
• Provide planned nursing care in partnership with the patient to achieve identified health outcomes;
• Provide appropriate health education to patients and family / whanau within a nursing framework;
• The maintenance and advancement of your own professional development and clinical knowledge.Your skills will include :
• The ability to work autonomously with a degree of flexibility to meet the individual needs of your clients;
• Registration with your respective Council of New Zealand with a current APC and mental health scope of practice is essential;
• Previous experience in alcohol and drug or mental health;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with a caring and compassionate nature will see you excel in this area;
• Excellent time management skills to effectively manage your case load.Working at Health New Zealand
